Hook Analysis
Understand which video hooks drive views and engagement across your tracked content.
What is Hook Analysis?
Hook Analysis is a ViralDeck-exclusive feature that examines the opening seconds of tracked videos — the "hook" — and identifies patterns behind high-performing content.
It answers: what kinds of hooks are working right now for creators in your workspace?
How it works
ViralDeck extracts and analyzes the first few seconds of transcript or caption data from tracked videos. It then surfaces:
- Top hook patterns — recurring phrases, formats, or structures that appear in high-view videos
- Hook performance comparison — how videos with different hook styles compare on views and engagement
- Trending hooks — hooks gaining traction in the current period
Scope and filters
Hook Analysis covers the videos in the active workspace — use the workspace switcher in the sidebar to analyze a different client or campaign. Use the filters at the top to narrow further:
- A specific platform
- A date range
- A specific account
Interpreting results
A hook that appears frequently among top-performing videos is a strong signal. Use these insights to:
- Brief creators on what's resonating
- A/B test hook styles in upcoming content
- Identify hook fatigue (previously strong patterns losing effectiveness)
Limitations
Hook Analysis depends on caption and transcript data being available for tracked videos. Videos without accessible captions will be excluded from the analysis.
